Windows Copilot Is Missing After Update (25H2)

The screenshot below shows my current Windows 11 Pro installation, version 25H2, with OS build 26200.7623. 

This confirms the exact environment where Copilot disappeared after the update.

                                                   Can Copilot disappear again after future updates? Unfortunately, yes.


After installing Windows 11 25H2, I noticed something odd: Copilot was simply gone. No taskbar icon, no shortcut, nothing. At first, it looked like a bug — but it turns out this is a fairly common situation with recent updates.

If Copilot disappeared on your system after updating to 25H2, you’re not alone. In most cases, the feature isn’t removed — it’s disabled, hidden, or unavailable due to how Microsoft handles rollouts.

Why Copilot disappears in Windows 11 25H2

With 25H2, Microsoft tightened how Copilot is enabled. Availability now depends on region, update channel, and internal feature flags. That means Copilot can vanish after an update without any warning.

  • Taskbar settings reset during the update
  • Copilot rollout paused for certain regions
  • Feature flags disabled server‑side
  • Preview features removed temporarily

How to check if Windows 11 version 25H2 is installed

Before troubleshooting Copilot, it’s important to confirm that your system is actually running Windows 11 version 25H2.

Follow these exact steps:

  1. Right‑click the Start button

  2. Click Settings

  3. Select System from the left menu

  4. Scroll down and click About

  5. Under Windows specifications, look for the Version field

If it says Version 25H2, then the update is installed on your system.

Tip: If you use multiple monitors, check the primary taskbar first.

Make sure 25H2 is fully installed

Partial updates can cause Copilot to disappear. If Windows is waiting for a restart or a secondary update, Copilot may not load correctly.

  • Open Settings → Windows Update
  • Install all pending updates
  • Restart, even if Windows doesn’t insist

Region limitations still apply

Even in 25H2, Copilot is not available everywhere. If your region isn’t supported, Copilot won’t appear — regardless of your Windows version.

Note: Changing region settings may temporarily enable Copilot, but Microsoft can disable it again in future updates.

Is this a bug?

Copilot not working in Windows 11 25H2

In most cases, no. Copilot is controlled by Microsoft using rollout switches. That’s why it can disappear after an update without any error message or notification.

My takeaway after testing 25H2

If Copilot is missing after updating to Windows 11 25H2, start with taskbar settings, confirm the update is fully installed, and keep regional availability in mind. It’s frustrating, but this is currently how Microsoft deploys Copilot features.
